Terms of Service
The short version: be honest, be kind, and rate sandwiches you have actually eaten. The longer version is below. By creating an account or using Crust, you agree to these terms.
The service
Crust is a free community website for logging, rating and discovering sandwiches and the places that make them. We may change, pause or retire features at any time. Crust is free to use, and if we ever introduce paid features we will tell you clearly first.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- Give accurate sign-up details and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Usernames must be unique and must not impersonate anyone else or be offensive. We may reclaim or change a username that breaks these rules.
- One account per person, please.
Your ratings and content
You keep ownership of the ratings, notes and other content you post. By posting it, you give Crust a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, display, reproduce and adapt it, such as resizing or formatting it, so we can run and promote the service. This licence ends when you delete the content, except where it has already been shared or is needed to keep other people's content in context.
You confirm that you have the right to post your content, and that it reflects your honest opinion.
House rules
When using Crust, you must not:
- post fake reviews, or rate a sandwich you have not eaten;
- rate your own business, or a competitor's, or get others to do so for you;
- post anything abusive, hateful, discriminatory, defamatory, sexually explicit, or illegal;
- share other people's personal information;
- spam, advertise, or post misleading listings;
- scrape, overload, or try to break or get around the site's security.
Free sandwiches and partner ratings
If you were given a sandwich for free, or received any other payment or perk in exchange for a rating, you must say so clearly in your note. This keeps ratings trustworthy and follows UK consumer protection law on incentivised reviews. Crust may mark partner or sponsored content, and businesses cannot pay to change or remove honest ratings.
Moderation
Anyone can report a rating. Our administrators may review, hide, edit or remove any content, and may merge duplicate places or sandwiches. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. We are not obliged to monitor everything, and a rating staying up does not mean we endorse it. If you think we got a moderation decision wrong, email hello@crustclub.co.uk.
For sandwich businesses
Places on Crust are listed by the community. If you run a listed business and the details are wrong, or you want to talk about partnering with us, email hello@crustclub.co.uk. We will never remove genuine, honest ratings just because they are negative.
Disclaimers
Ratings are personal opinions from community members, not ours. Prices, opening hours, ingredients and locations may be out of date. Crust is not a source of allergen or dietary information, so always check with the shop. The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Crust is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from content posted by users or from businesses listed on the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Ending your account
You can stop using Crust at any time. To delete your account and data, email hello@crustclub.co.uk. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. If we do, we will change the date at the top, and we will tell account holders about significant changes. If you keep using Crust after a change, you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to bring claims where you live.
